Within your FOREVER® account you may be wondering what is the difference between Tags and People. While similar, they have vastly different purposes!
In short, Tags are meant to be ways to organize files into groupings, as well as provide more context on a memory that will follow the file when downloaded with metadata. Whereas People are supposed to expand and specifically outline a person to create a profile of them.
Tags
Tags can mark individual memories with names, events, places, or themes. These will attach to the file so if someone downloads with metadata, or chooses to copy to their account with tags included, they will come with!
For an example, Tags are used for event names as well as locations the photos are taken (ie. "family reunion" and "Wisconsin"). Some clients use this feature to separate out major life events or overall purpose for the photo, like "weddings" or "scenic landscape". Others make more specific tags such as "2019 Graduations" or "Yellowstone Park vacation".
You can go as generic or detailed as you'd like!
People
People are like a specialized Tag, but to really detail the story of those in your life. It's completely up to you how much you want to fill in or what details you want to include.
FOREVER Facial Recognition can easily and quickly sort people in your life, which includes a way to specifically recognize who's in your images. You can also manually add People to files so they can be included in your videos, audio, documents, and projects. This also allows those you've shared the memories with to see who is included!
Within the People tab specifically, you can edit each individual's profile to add nicknames and birth dates. Use the Bio part to write out important dates in the person's life like when they got married, when their kids were born, any big trips you took with them, and more! This specific area's details can only be viewed by you and your Account Managers when they come in to help manage your account, so if you have any private information included you don't need to worry about it accidentally being shared when others view shared photos with that person.
There are some details shared when you send an entire People profile to someone, which you can read more about here.
