• Managing photos just got easier: The Delete option is once again available directly in the main toolbar within the Lightbox so you can quickly remove photos while viewing them.
• Uploading photos is now simpler: Just drag files from your desktop directly into an album or file list and your upload will begin automatically.
• Quickly return to albums you’ve been working in: A new navigation option lets you easily switch between Albums, Recently Viewed Albums, and Visited Albums.
• Customize how you browse Tags: You can now turn Tag Covers on or off within your Tags list for a cleaner, more streamlined view.

We’re pleased to announce expanded support for HEIC and HEIF image files across the FOREVER platform. These modern file formats are now integrated into the latest versions of our applications to make working with photos from Apple and other modern devices easier than ever.

💻 Core Web Application:

• You can now upload HEIC and HEIF files directly to your FOREVER Storage account.
• Uploaded HEIC/HEIF files are stored safely and rendered as high-quality previews for viewing and printing.

People Tags in Metadata
We’re excited to introduce a powerful new enhancement to how People tags are handled across the FOREVER platform. Your facial recognition and manually tagged People are now even more portable and persistent.

🔄 People Tags Now Written to Image Metadata:

• When a photo in your FOREVER Storage account has an identified person—either through facial recognition or manual creation—that person’s name is now written to the image’s metadata. 
• This ensures that when you download or export your photos, the People tags travel with the file, making them easier to organize and identify across devices and systems.

📥 People Tags Now Read from Imported Files

• When you upload or import photos into FOREVER, the system will now read People tags from the image metadata (if present).
• If names are detected, FOREVER will automatically create People tags in your Tags to reflect them, helping maintain your photo organization and reduce manual tagging.

  • Read-Only Favorite Heart in Comparison View: View your favorite files directly in the comparison view (thumbnail strip).
  • Info Panel Open by Default: The info panel now opens by default, giving you immediate access to file details.
  • Tags, Albums, and People in Info Panel: The info panel now includes important organizational information such as Tags, Albums, and People associated with each file, allowing for better file management decisions.
• General App Improvements
  • Sort/Search/Filters in People Show/Hide and Bulk Merge Modals: The People Show/Hide and Bulk merge modals now includes sorting, search, and filtering options - making it easier to find and manage hidden and named people.
  • Gallery Filter now stick: Gallery filters now ‘stick’ when navigating to other areas of the application (e.g. Albums, Tags or People), providing a more seamless and consistent browsing experience.

• Nested Album Placement in Main List View: Fixed an issue where newly created Nested Albums were being added to the end of the Nested Album list.  Newly created Nested Albums will now automatically be displayed in the main list view in alphabetical order, improving the organization for quicker and more efficient navigation.

• Lightbox Date Picker in Safari Not Expanding: We’ve resolved an issue where the date picker within the Lightbox would not expand properly when using the zoom function in Safari. This fix ensures smooth functionality, allowing the date picker to display correctly regardless of zoom settings.

• Fuzzy Dates: This exciting feature gives you greater flexibility and control over dating your memories - singularly or in bulk, making it easier to preserve and organize your memories. With Fuzzy Dates, you can now specify dates with varying levels of precision, ranging from an exact date and time to more generalized timeframes. Key features include...
  • Exact Date & Time: As you always could within FOREVER, you can assign an exact date and time to a memory, down to the minute and second. This is ideal for memories where the precise moment of capture is important.
  • Day, Month & Year: If you're unsure of the exact day but know the month and year, you can now set the date to a specific day, month, and year. This allows for more flexibility when dealing with memories created within a general timeframe.
  • Quarter and Year: For memories created during a broader timeframe, you can specify a quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) and the year. This is perfect for memories created during a specific quarter of a year without a precise day or month.
  • Year: When only the year is known, you can set the date to reflect just the year. This is useful for archival memories where the exact date is lost but the year is still known.
  • Decade and Century: For older memories or when precise dating isn't possible, you can set the date to a decade or century. This feature is ideal for historical collections where a more generalized timeframe is needed.

• Nested Album Expansion Memory: You asked, we listened! We’ve improved how nested albums are handled within your Album Details. The app now remembers which albums you’ve expanded, so you won’t have to manually reopen them every time you access your albums. This saves you time and keeps your album organization intact.

• Fixed Shared Link Issue: We’ve addressed an issue where reset share links were not working correctly. Now, all share links will function as expected, with no impact on any previously reset links.

• Tag Merging: We’re excited to introduce the Tag Merging feature, allowing you to combine two existing tags into one. This new functionality streamlines tag management by consolidating all memories under a single tag, reducing clutter. Please note that merging a tag into another will break the share link associated with that first tag.  

• Downloading People Files: We’re pleased to announce the new Download People Files feature! Now, you can easily download all memories associated with a person, whether they were facially recognized or manually created. Please note that biometric metadata will not be included in the download.  That means no People names/data will be included when looking at the information of files.  We are discussing this ability internally, and welcome additional requests and/or votes within Community!

• Visited Album Link in Empty State: When a client has no albums, a link for Visited Albums is now displayed in the empty state of the Albums section. This allows clients to easily view the albums they've visited, without needing to create their own albums first.

🐞 Bug Fixes

• Gallery ‘Sort By’ Fix: We’ve fixed an issue where your FOREVER Gallery sort preferences weren’t being saved properly. Now, the sorting of your Gallery will persist, even after you refresh or reopen the app.
• Improved Upload Source Display: The text that appears when selecting your upload source has been updated for better clarity. This small change will help make the upload process even smoother.
• GIF Display Fix: Larger animated GIFs will now animate correctly in your FOREVER Gallery, as expected.
• Album Custom Sort Fix: We have fixed an issue where the Custom Sort Order was not persisting after leaving the Album and returning back to the Album.

• Nested Albums: You can now easily organize and navigate your collections with nested albums right from your Album detail view! The section is expanded by default for easy access, but can be collapsed for a cleaner view. Your collapsed settings will be saved across Albums, Visited Albums, and Shared Albums for a consistent experience.

• Album Descriptions: Album Description previews are now viewable directly within the Album Details header.

• Update to File Counts: To optimize Facial Recognition and reduce database calls, file counts will now only show exact numbers for counts under 50 and '50+' for counts of 50 or more in filters and main file lists.
• Improved Zoom Functionality: We added a safety feature to prevent errors when zooming in the lightbox, making sure everything works smoothly.
• File Check for Details: We implemented a new check to ensure we have the right details before starting a process in the lightbox, enhancing reliability.
• Added a Loading State to Filters: When a client selects a filter option, we are disabling the ability to select other filter options until the filter option chosen is completed. This will ensure that clients always get the expected results.
