If you created an Artisan project for a product that has since been retired from the FOREVER Print Shop, all that work is NOT lost! You can still use it without having to re-create a new project from the ground up. It just takes a little imagination and some additional time.
How to Turn Your Existing Projects Into New Ones
Option 1 – Using the Conversion Tool
The conversion tool in Artisan can only convert an existing project to a smaller project that has the same aspect ratio. For example, a 12x12 photo book can be converted to a 10x10 or an 8x8 photo book because each project page has the same relationship between height and width.
Even though there are no smaller photo books in the FOREVER Print Shop than the Mini Books we used to offer, there are other project types available. If you convert a Mini Book to a smaller project, it will use the first page(s) of the Mini Book in the new project.
5x5 Mini Books can be converted to:
- Coaster Sets (uses the first 4 pages of the Mini Book)
- Round Ornament
- Prague Ornament
- London Ornament
7x5 Mini Books can be converted to:
- 4x6 Flat Cards
- 7x5 Flat Cards
- 4x3 Magnets
- 6x4 Magnets
- Benelux Ornament
- Berlin Ornament
- Stainless Steel Water Bottle
- 7x5 Tabletop Panel
Steps to convert a page or set of pages to another project type:
- Open the existing project that you want to convert.
- Move the page(s) that you want as part of your converted project to the beginning of the Mini Book.
- Review the page(s) that you want to use in the new project.
- Edit anything on the page(s) that you want to change.
- Once you are sure you are done editing, Save the project.
- Click the “Print Project at FOREVER Print Shop” button in the upper right.
- When the message pops up asking if you want to convert your project, click “Yes.” (see screen shot for message)
- Choose the project you want to create.
- Click “Next.”
- The first page(s) of the Mini Book that are needed for your new project will be converted to the new project. If you have more completed pages in the Mini Book than the new project will use, the following message will display; click “Yes” to continue.
- Once the Mini Book is converted to the new project, the new project will open in Artisan 6 for you to edit and then send to the FOREVER Print Shop.
Option 2 – Copy & Paste
By copying elements from an existing project into a new project and resizing the elements in the new project, you can turn any existing project into any new project, regardless of aspect ratio or original project size.
Steps to copy elements from one project and paste them into another:
- Create a new project in Artisan.
- To copy all the elements on an existing page, follow these steps:
- Open the existing project that you want to copy from.
- In the Pages Panel for the existing project, select the page whose elements you want to copy.
- Click on one of the elements on the selected page.
- Hold down the Control (Ctrl) key and click the “A” key to select all the elements on the page.
- Hold down the Control (Ctrl) key and click the “C” key to copy the selected elements.
- Go to the new project you created.
- In the Pages Panel for the new project, select the page where you want to paste the copied elements.
- Hold down the Control (Ctrl) key and click the “V” key to paste the selected elements.
- At this point, you can resize all the pasted elements together; they are still selected, so grabbing the side or corner of any element will resize all of them.
- To resize separate elements, click away from the elements on the page to de-select them all. Then click an element to select it and resize them one at a time.
- To choose only some of the elements to copy from an existing page, follow these steps:
- Open the existing project that you want to copy from.
- In the Pages Panel for the existing project, select the page whose elements you want to copy.
- Click on one of the elements on the selected page.
- Hold down the Shift key and click each element you want to copy from the page.
Most Recent Product Retirement
The following products were retired from the FOREVER Print Shop offerings, effective September 1, 2022:
- Mini Books (5x5 and 7x5 sizes)
- Acrylic Panels
- Faux Canvas Wraps.
If you created any of those project types in Artisan before they were retired, please be aware of the following post-retirement behaviors:
- If you try to upload a Mini Book, you will get a message about converting the mini book to a different size; there are no other book sizes that you can convert this project to, but you can convert the first page to a card, magnet, or other project type (you will get a list).
- If you try to upload an Acrylic Panel, you will be given a list of other products that have the same dimensions that you can order instead.
- If you try to upload a Faux Canvas, you will be given a list of other products that have the same dimensions that you can order instead. If there are no other available products that correspond to the size of your Faux Canvas, Artisan will AUTOMATICALLY UPLOAD AS A CANVAS WRAP of the same size.
