If you've started or copied an Artisan® project and want to give it a new name, follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Find Where Your Project is Saved
Not sure where your project is located?
- Open Artisan.
- Click File in the upper-left corner.
- Look at the Recent Projects list—your project location will be shown there. The default location is usually C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\Artisan Projects, but projects can also be stored on an external hard drive or another area on your computer.
⚠️ Important: If the location includes OneDrive, Dropbox, or iCloud, move your project to a safe local location immediately as cloud syncing can cause project issues. Follow these steps or learn more.
Step 2: Rename the Project Folder
- Close Artisan.
- Open File Explorer on your computer.
- Navigate to the project location you found in Step 1.
- Find the folder with your project’s current name.
- Right-click the folder and choose Rename.
- Type the new name and press Enter.
Step 3: Open the Project with Its New Name
Since the project has a new name, it won’t appear in Artisan on your Recent Projects list. Here’s how to re-open it:
- Open Artisan.
- Click File in the upper left, then select Open project.
- Navigate to the newly renamed folder.
- Select and open the file labeled "project" inside the folder.
📌Note: It may take a few minutes for Artisan to open the renamed project. This is especially normal if you have more than 99 pages in your project. Avoid clicking around while the project loads to prevent delays and the software freezing.
You're all set! You can now continue working on your Artisan project with its new name.
