It is strongly encouraged to design your photo book cover last to avoid resizing issues as you add or delete pages. This is because the spine will adjust, so any designs made can drastically shift your design elements. The cover size adjusts at specific page counts:
-
Adding pages: Changes occur at 37, 77, 119, and 161 pages.
-
Deleting pages: Changes occur at 160, 118, 76, and 36 pages.
When the spine width increases, the back cover stays the same, but the front cover shifts to accommodate the wider spine. You’ll need to reposition any elements on the front cover.
Predesigned Book Templates
If you’re using a predesigned art kit specifically designed for a 10x10 or 8x8 photo book, note that the Safe, Trim, and Bleed lines may not adjust properly as pages are added—this issue does not affect 12x12 books. Here are the two workaround options for these cases:
-
Start with a Blank template and import the cover later using the Template tool in the Home ribbon.
-
Alternatively, choose the predesigned kit at the start, delete the cover content, and re-import the cover after finalizing the page count.
Uploading Your Photo Book
As your project grows, the file size increases, which can impact upload time. For faster uploads:
-
Ensure your internet speed is 25 MB/sec or higher.
-
Consider connecting directly to your router with an ethernet cable.
-
Try using public WiFi at a library or coffee shop.
During the upload process, you’ll see real-time progress in the Print Transfer window, including the uploaded file size, total file size, and percentage completed. Expect longer upload times for 199-page projects compared to 99-page books.
