Yes! You can absolutely use both iCloud and the FOREVER® iOS Mobile App to back up your memories. However, there are some important things to keep in mind to ensure your photos and videos sync properly to FOREVER® (such as if you have more than one iOS device you want to back up to your Storage).
What to Know About iCloud
While iCloud helps store your memories in the cloud, the FOREVER® app can only access files stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. If your photos and videos are saved only to iCloud, FOREVER® will not be able to upload them unless a local copy exists on your device.
How to Check If Your Photos Are Only in iCloud
To find out if your photos are stored only in iCloud:
- Open your iPhone Settings.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top.
- Select iCloud > Photos.
- If Photos is turned ON and set to "Optimize iPhone Storage", your files are only stored in iCloud.
- If your memories are saving only to iCloud, you have two options to ensure future photos are saved locally:
-
- Switching this setting to "Download and Keep Originals"; or
- Turning OFF iCloud Photos entirely.
📌 Note: If iCloud Photos was already set to "Keep Originals" but you're still having trouble, please check your phone's storage by going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to ensure there's enough space for the memories to be local.
Manually Downloading from iCloud
If you previously had "Optimize iPhone Storage" turned on, you may need to manually download your media from iCloud to your device or computer. Visit Apple’s guide to learn how: Download iCloud photos and videos
Using Multiple iOS Devices
You can be logged in to the same FOREVER account on multiple different devices. However, if these multiple iOS devices are connected to a single iCloud Photo Library, only use one device for Auto Sync. This is because Apple may deliver slightly different versions of the same photo to each device, which can interfere with de-duplication due to size differences.
If you have separate iCloud accounts on the devices (such as for you and members of your family), simply log in to the app using the same email and password so they all upload to the same Storage account. We do stress caution with sharing photos with others as the Mobile App may not recognize they are the same and allow the other person to upload a photo already in the Storage account.
