If you’re using an iPhone or iPad with iOS 11 or later, your photos are likely saved as HEIC files instead of the older JPG format. Apple uses HEIC to save space without losing image quality—but not all programs can open these files: Artisan® and Historian™ do not support HEIC files directly.
However, your FOREVER® Storage account does! You can upload HEIC photos there without any issues through a web browser, mobile app, or Valet™.
To use HEIC photos in Artisan or Historian:
Option 1: Use FOREVER Storage (recommended)
- Upload your HEIC photos to your FOREVER Storage account.
- In Artisan or Historian, use the "Get Photos" option and choose to grab it from FOREVER.
- The photo will be automatically converted to JPG during import!
Option 2: Convert HEIC files manually
If your photos are not in FOREVER Storage, you'll need to convert them first before bringing it into your Artisan project or Historian cabinet. Search online for “convert HEIC to JPG” to find tools to assist with this process, many of which are typically free.
