Facial recognition relies on AI to detect and group similar faces together based on their geometry, but occasionally, the system may identify the same person as multiple individuals. This can happen if:
- A person appears in different lighting, angles, or with varying expressions.
- Multiple faces exist in one photo, and the AI struggles to differentiate them correctly and can create unnamed people from the same face.
- Older and newer photos of the same person look significantly different (e.g., childhood vs. adulthood).
To resolve this, you can merge duplicate people manually by selecting their profiles and confirming they are the same person on the People page. This will also help train the AI and limit the amount of time you'll need to spend merging in the future.
