When using FOREVER® Facial Recognition, faces will start to be recognized and grouped together by similarity. This is a continually learning system that takes the information in your account to help map out a person's face; this will start out slow as it takes into account different angles and age progression. Sometimes the system may not recognize that a face belongs to an existing People profile (this is especially true when you first start Facial Recognition), so it will be assigned to a new "Unnamed" profile.
An "Unnamed" profile means that a face was recognized, and its similar photos were grouped together, but there is no existing named person it can confidently combine with. There are three options you can choose to do with this type of profile:
- Create a new People profile
- Merge into an existing People profile
- Hide it
1. Create a New People Profile
If this is a new person you need to identify, you can use an Unnamed profile to start. Simply click in to view the People profile, then follow one of these options to assign it a new identity:
- Option 1: Click on "Unnamed" at the top, type the person's name, and click to Rename;
- Option 2: Click the pencil icon in the upper right to "Edit Details", then in the pop-up window fill in all relevant information you want to include at this time, when done press Update Person to confirm changes...
2. Merge Into an Existing People Profile
You can easily combine People profiles together, so when their face is recognized it can continue to group them into the same person. This helps Facial Recognition with building a face and will make it easier for you as you continue to add memories!
IMPORTANT: Merging profiles together is NOT able to be undone, so please triple-check the person's profile you are merging and make sure you are using the proper method to keep the profile that has the most amount of details.
Individual Merging
This way you are taking an Unnamed profile and putting it into an existing People profile on your account.
- Go into the People tab on your account.
- Click in to view an Unnamed person's profile.
- At the top of the screen click on the "Unnamed" title.
- Start typing the person's name and it should appear on the list, you can then click the existing profile to merge them together!
Bulk Merge Faces
This way you are selecting the main People profile you want to keep, then selecting multiple profiles to combine into this existing one.
- Go into the People tab on your account.
- Right-click on one existing Person you've already named and choose to Bulk Merge.
- In the pop-up please select all faces you want to bring into that one person, click Continue to Review.
- DOUBLE CHECK your selection(s) as this is not able to be reversed!! The top will list all the profiles you have selected, and confirming it will be merged into the profile you chose in step 2.
- If everything looks good and you want to merge these People profiles, click the Merge People button; Otherwise you can click "Cancel" to stop the process or "Back to Previous" to change your profile selections.
3. Hide It
At this time there is no way to DELETE a People profile, since the face has been recognized. But, if this is a face you don't want see, you can simply "Hide" the profile to avoid it showing moving forward. The great part of this is recognized faces matching the hidden profile will get merged into there, so they stay hidden!
Here are the two ways you can hide a People profile:
- Option 1: From the main People tab, click the button in the upper right to "Show/Hide People", then click the faces that are shown to hide them.
- Option 2: From the main People tab right-click on the face (this can be a named or Unnamed profile), then from the menu choose to Hide Person;
- Option 3: Click in to the People profile of the person you want to hide, in the upper right click the three dots, then choose to Hide Person.
To unhide someone, simply go to the People tab and click the button in the upper right to "Show/Hide People" (like for Option 1). You can then click the grayed out profile photo to show them again.
