Specialty Scans are larger and/or delicate items that need more attention to detail during the digitization process. These include, but are not limited to...
- Scrapbook and Album Pages (including those with or without jeeping)
- Documents (such as certificates, invoices, brochures, flyers, posters, cards, government forms, and other legal documents)
- Newspapers
- 3-Dimensional materials (such as service medals, framed photos*, children's artwork, etc.)
- Photo Prints outside our required specifications
- Slides that are large, medium, or stereo format**
- Negatives in a large or medium format**
All of these are scanned on a flatbed machine, so items larger an 12"x17" are considered Oversized Scans and must be scanned multiple times to capture the full image. The individual scans can then be stitched together into a single photo!
Images are scanned at 300 DPI and digitized to a high-resolution JPG file format, which is optimal for storing, viewing, and sharing.
*Please note that we request photos be removed from frames when being shipped to FOREVER. IF they cannot be removed, we can accommodate the photo, but are not responsible for damage done to the frame or glass during shipping.*
**These types of media uses a more specialized machine in order to digitize them due to their transparent nature.**
