The lightbox refers to the area you see when you click in to view a file larger than its thumbnail. Besides viewing your memories full-screen, this area also gives you more advanced editing and organizational options. Such as updating the file name, description, or date taken. You also have the ability to "Add People" (if available) or directly add the file to a Tag or Album! Additionally, you have the ability to add the photo to specific Print products, send a Share Link or QR Code so others can view, or Download it, and more!
Parts of the Lightbox
The three main parts of the Lightbox is the display in the middle, the actions bar on the top, and the Info panel on the right.
Display
In the example above, the display is the image of the koala itself. For images and documents, you can scroll in to view the image larger. With documents or projects with multiple pages to it, you can flip through the individual pages using the bottom carousel as shown here:
For audio files, you can listen to it in the lightbox. And with videos, if you have an active Video Streaming subscription you can watch your memories here, otherwise you'll need to download it to watch it locally.
Actions Bar
At the top of each file is the actions bar that gives you more options for what to do with the file. Please note that these options will vary depending on the file type. For example, only photo files can be added to a print project. More details below!
Print
Quick way to add an individual photo to a new print project like a mugs tabletop panel, notebook, coaster set, magnet, or water bottle. To be able to add multiple photos at once to a print project you can read this article.
Share
This button provides a Share Link you can copy to provide others to directly view this memory. You can also disconnect the Share Link by turning it OFF if you no longer want this memory shared with others - this will break the link and code so nobody can use it anymore.
Zoom
For images, documents, and projects this button zooms if you do not have a mouse wheel or touch pad to be able to manually zoom in or out.
Favorite
Favoriting the memory will add a heart icon over your file's thumbnail preview. This is great to pick specific images from groups (such as photo bursts) that you want to use in an Album or print project.
Edit
For images only, this brings up the Editing Tool so you can enhance or retouch your memories. The edited file will create a separate copy in your account, leaving the original file untouched in case you need to return to it.
Hide/Show Info
This button closes and opens the Info panel on the right side (more details below).
Other
Gives more options to do with this file, including Download and Delete. Only images allow you to rotate left/right from here.
Info Panel
-
Name - This is the file name, it is strongly suggested to leave the file extension (such as .jpg or .mov) as part of the name. You can either keep the default name your device gave it when the memory was captured, otherwise you can change it to either better reflect the memory or even be part of a naming structure!
In the above example, the file name was changed from "IMG_0244.jpg" to "Koala.jpg" to better describe the image. - Description - Here you can add a story or describe what the memory is. Add as much or as little detail as you'd like! This will be displayed to others you share the memory with from your FOREVER account, so please refrain from adding personal details (like passwords).
-
Date Taken - When the memory was created and/or captured. You can edit this if the date is incorrect, including adding a fuzzy date if you're unsure the exact time.
For example, when you design an Artisan® scrapbook page it will say it was created the day you uploaded it, but you can change it to when the memories on the designed page happened. This makes it easier when filtering in your Gallery to find memories from a specific timeframe. - Uploaded - The date/time listed here lets you know when the file was brought in to your FOREVER Storage account, so this can not be edited. It also lets you know where it came from: Web (uploaded with a web browser), iOS or Android (from the mobile app), Historian (imported from a cabinet), and Valet (transferred using the desktop software).
- File Size - This is the size of the memory as it takes up space in your Storage. It includes not only the visual and/or audio, but also the metadata contained within.
- People - If you have Facial Recognition then you can hover your mouse over the name listed here and it will highlight the face in the photo. This information is only available to the account owner and assigned Account Managers.
- Tags - Shows what Tags you have associated with the file. This is visible to others you share the memory with, and they can choose to download with Tags as well.
- Albums - This lets you know what Album(s) the memory has been organized into. This information is only available to the account owner and their Account Managers when they actively manage the account.
- Owner/Uploaded By - If you have a Collaborative Album, this is a great way to review and monitor who is uploading certain files into the shared area.
