Show Nested Albums within the Containing Album!
CompletedThere are so many things to love about the new FOREVER platform. Thank you for all the wonderful upgrades. One feature I miss from the previous platform is the ability to view nested albums within a containing album. I know they show small in the left-hand column, but they are hard to see, and it's very confusing. When we open an album we should be able to view everything that it contains, including nested albums, just like on our computers. Help! This needs to be a priority!

Hi Julia!
We have addressed this request in the release on December 3, 2024. Thanks for your request and feedback!

I agree with this feature. It was better the old way. :)

yes, I am all for learning new stuff, but the way they are on the left is really confusing and a little hard to follow what is nested and nested and nested.

It needs to be larger for eyes that can't see as well. I also prefer the old way to view nested albums....many main albums in my account just have a photo in that space for the album cover.

I was really excited about the new features but very disappointed. You can see at all what u have on the left.

Being able to view nested albums in the main area is a critical feature to enjoy Forever Albums . . . At the least, you should be able to toggle this on and off for people who don't want to view nested albums within the album itself.
Nested albums help people visualize what is contained within the album. Here's a before and after taken a few years apart, so the nested albums have changed a bit:
This along with not being able to view the description has really changed the feel of the Album view and seems less able to show the story (and I know the vertical album view is there, but it seems very hard to look at.)
Thank you for all you do!! : )

Yes, please!

I want both!

Yes! I added this idea too, although I don't think I described it as well! I would much rather see my nested albums/covers in the main panel with photos, as it used to be, additionally now that tags have a "cover photo" I am so distracted I can't find what I am looking for - I wish we could choose no cover photo for Tags, just an alphabetical list. IMHO the new way is backwards from the way I organize with nested albums and tags.

I appreciate that others feel this way. When I first opened a main album I was so disappointed that the nested albums were to the left? For me they are really small and as others have said - confusing. To me it makes it more difficult to work on an album or the nested ones. I REALLY hope that you all go back to the way it was before. In the past it was great to see them under the main album and big enough for me to see them with ease.

I totally agree! For me, this is a must have item.

I see both points of view. If you have loose photos in a parent album with nested albums the loose photos will show up on the right side and the nested albums in the list on the left. I agree the list and thumbnails are hard to see. When everything is in nested albums and there are no loose photos in the parent album all that white space on the right is disconcerting and seems like a waste of screen real estate. That view is not intuitive. Maybe there could be a way to give more room (Larger thumbnails, type) to the list on the left to make it more visible when there are no loose photos in the parent album? I like the list more than scrolling through all the nested album thumbnails. To me it looks better on a mobile browser than a laptop screen. I hope there's a way to bridge both needs.

I agree with Julia and agree that it is a little confusing having the nested albums listed on the left side of the page. Thank you for considering having the nested albums show in the main album.

I agree as well! This is very confusing for clients. Thank you for your consideration!

I agree with Mollie 100%. It really takes away from the essence of a FOREVER account when you can't immediately see the nested albums and have to search for them from a very small dropdown on the left. I think most clients, but especially older ones, like to be able to visually search for the album they are looking for that has been nested. I think it also makes showing an account to a potential new client more difficult - and frankly, it is not as appealing. It's very confusing to see the Album title - NO description - and then just random photos or nothing at all under an album, as that is the first place your eyes go. PLEASE put it back!! Or, like others have said, give everyone a choice with a toggle.

I am torn on this one. I am so used to seeing the nested albums when I open an album and I can see the benefit. But I also see the benefit of having a vertical view. I know a lot of my clients have asked for the vertical view to make it easier to see their entire album structure including nested albums. The one issue I'm having with the vertical view is how hard it is to see. The nested albums aren't indented a lot, the grey line delineating the nested albums is almost invisible. The print is small, particularly if you aren't on a large screen and you have lengthy names for your album titles. I would at least like to see the tree view made a little easier to read. Not sure exactly how - maybe different colored lines for each layer of nesting and the ability to pull the tree to be larger or smaller and thereby see more of the tree.

I agree that the nested album view on the left side is difficult to see, especially when there are a lot of nested albums. The old way of clearly showing the nested albums was much better, IMO. Also, I don't like that you can't see the descriptions of albums unless you click on the album to edit it. I have a lot of information in my descriptions, which I can no longer see unless i chose to edit the album. Please bring back the description information back to the overview of the album.

I stand corrected in my above information about descriptions in the albums. You have to click on the "View details" in order to see the information.

Can I just say, AGING EYES, zooming in means less items viewable in the 'work area'. I agree also with Chery Freye, that perhaps different color lines for each layer of nesting would be helpful. I do like that I can 'collapse' that vertical view to get 'down' to the layer I desire. *U* Kathleen

This nested album view is very difficult to enjoy on a computer, but it is absolutely demotivating on a phone. Many people have added forever.com to their phones and that is where they do their work and this has made that nearly impossible. Please put the nested albums back as they were , or at least give us the option to choose from either view. Our work in our Forever account should bring us joy and be easy for others we share our albums with to enjoy as well. The old view was so inviting. You cannot navigate this new view at all on a phone, and it is not visually appealing at all.

I'm trying to get used to the new way, but also vote for changing it back to the old way! Also hoping that going back to old way will enable us to see our album descriptions. I have a lot of info there about the album and it's annoying to have to click on yet another button to see it.

Definitely can’t see the little items on the side.
And I think my parent album is empty when I can not see my nested albums.
Please return! Thanks for listening!

I agree with Fran and several of the others. I have loved Forever from the first day I learned about it. I rarely have problems or complaints. So thank you to the Forever team! However this update has me frustrated. I work mostly on my phone, but also on the computer. I struggled all weekend during the crop with the nested album thing. Please let us choose which view (for those that love it) or put it back the way it was.

PLEASE bring this back!! I agree 100% with Julia and the comments made. I loved the nested albums view before and it would be nice to have both on the left and view as before.

I totally agree. The old view was so much better. This is NOT an improvement as the above post show in their photos. Please change it back.

Yes please!!! This makes looking at the Forever as a photo album enjoyable!!! Please bring things feature back.
I also miss being able to see the "information" at the top of the album and each nested album. I know we can push the information button, but having it at the top of the page view enhanced the experience. Could this be an option for those who want it?

I totally agree with this!! When using the Albums link, the first level has icons for all the albums, as it used to, but when I go into an album with nested albums, all I see are the photos in the top album. I would like to still be able to see the icons for the nested albums. I know they are available on the left menu, but I would prefer them to also show in the display with the photos.

Please, please put the nested albums in the view when you click on an album. At the present time, it is impossible to get to a nested album on a phone or iPad. It is also extremely difficult to get to a nested album on the computer unless you know its name and can search by the name. It was so easy before and now it is very difficult.

I would like to thank everyone who has chimed in about not seeing the Nested Albums under the main album in FOREVER albums. Perhaps the thought that it might be better was the reason for the change. I feel that it is extremely difficult for me to see all of that information to the left. I am older with a capital O - eyes not as sharp as they might be. Also - I just liked seeing the nested albums - made it easy to know at a glance what is there and made it easy to begin working on one. I hope they return it to the way it was before. Thanks all!

Not sure if this comment will be seen at this point since the plan is to bring back the nested albums in the middle, but I wanted to say that when you do bring them back, please also bring back the ability to select multiple nested albums and move them all at once to a new location. With the side bar only, you can't do this, you can only move them one by one. Thank you!!
