Windows adds the bracketed 1 when you import photos from your phone via Get Media > Files. This is due to the way Windows browses a mobile device.
Windows uses an interface called WIA – Windows Image Acquisition – to gather photos from your smartphone. This interface adds the “[1]” to images if they are imported via Get Media > Files instead of Get Media > Camera.
To import photos from your phone without that [1] added to the file name, follow these steps:
- Close Historian 6.
- Connect your phone to your computer via a cable.
- Open Historian 6. (Note: depending on your phone and Historian settings, Historian 6 may open automatically and gather photos from your phone.)
- Go to the Media Library.
- In the Home ribbon, click on “Camera.”
- Wait for the software to detect the photos on your phone and display them in the “Get photos from {phone name}” window.
- Select the photo(s) you want to import.
- Click the Get pictures button.
- Once the photos have been imported to Historian 6, you will see them in your Media Library.
An alternate method of importing camera photos is to create a folder on your computer, save the photos/videos from your smartphone to that folder, then open Historian 6 and choose Get Media > Files to import the photos and videos from the folder.
