Feature Request: HEIC vs JPG Storage Options
Previously, when uploading from a phone, the FOREVER app converted HEIC images to JPG before storing them in our accounts. Currently, HEIC files are stored as HEIC and JPG files remain JPG.
Many of us would appreciate having a user-controlled option in both the iOS and Android apps to choose whether uploads are stored as:
-
Original file type (HEIC stays HEIC, JPG stays JPG), or
-
Automatically converted to JPG upon upload.
Offering this choice would better support different workflows, compatibility needs, and long-term preservation preferences.

Yes! This sounds to me like a very helpful change.

I have wanted this ever since the HEIC files started being allowed into our storage accounts. I know there was a LOT of chatter about allowing them, but not all of us wanted them. I think a user option to choose to convert to jpgs for storage account upload would be incredible. The heic file format is just not as widely used yet and seems to create more issues than it solves.

Yes, please--let's make it a choice!

Most people who end up w HEIC files on their phone (Apple/Android) have no idea what to do with them. Give FOREVER app users the option to upload as jpgs like before and avoid the hassle of downstream usage of HEIC files

Yes, it would be helpful.

It would be very helpful to allow app users the choice to upload as jpgs versus heic files. Most users don’t know what to do with their heic files and prefer them uploaded as jpgs.
