Update/Expand Chart To Calculate Film Reel Length & Storage Needed
This chart (located in the site Help Center) is outdated and doesn't provide enough information. Alex Cybela, in Digitization, was terrific and provided me with the information I needed to calculate an estimate for a client with very large old film reels. I had to calculate both approximate digitization cost and storage needed. Alex gave me an unofficial chart and said he would work on updating the actual chart. I said I would also put in a formal request to get it on the radar of Nathan's crew.
Please create a chart that provides columns for:
1) Film Reel size in inches (up to 16" in diameter) as the calculations change once you get past the lower numbers. We only provide up to 7" now.
2) Film Reel Size in Feet
3) Total approximate GB needed for each diameter/length
4) Approximate running time for each diameter
5) Get rid of the reel picture as a measuring device because if you print it out, the size is inaccurate and it doesn't help online.
6) Add this chart to the Digitization Landing Page under a subheading "How Do I Determine My Film reel length and storage needed?" so that it isn't just hidden in the Help Center. I think it also should be sent with every Digitization Box.
I think both clients and Ambassadors need this information in an easy-to-reference chart to be able to quickly calculate an estimate for BOTH the price of the digitization and the amount of storage needed. I also think it would cut down on calls to Client Care. Please contact Alex to provide calculations/charts. I'm happy to help as well.
Thank you!
