FAQs for Notebooks and Planners
General Questions about Notebooks and Planners
Q1: What has changed with Notebooks?
A: There are a few updates to the Notebooks that we offer at FOREVER:
- All-new, beautiful designs for Notebooks on the website.
- New background colors and patterns that can be used on most of our new Notebook designs on the web. (Look for the multi-color wheel next to the design which indicates that you can change the background color.)
- The interior pages have changed. We now offer the following:
- Lined Pages
- Graph/Lined Pages
- Bullet Pages
- Journal Pages
- The FOREVER Logo and white box for the logo and (for Spiral-bound Notebooks) barcode is smaller.
- The size of the coil on the spiral-bound Notebooks is not slightly larger to allow for smoother page turning.
Q2: How is a Planner different from a Notebook?
A: While Planners and Notebooks are very similar, there are some distinct differences:
- Planners have 168-page interiors, while Notebooks have 120-page interiors. This means the covers – particularly for the Hard Cover Planners and Notebooks – are not the same.
- The interior options are different. Notebooks have these options:
- Lined Pages
- Graph/Lined Pages
- Bullet Pages
- Journal Pages.
Planners have these options:
- Week/Month Pages
- Weekly Pages
- Daily Pages.
- In Create & Print on the web, there are different designs for the different products (though some may be available in both products).
Q3: Can I create a Notebook and order a Planner (or vice versa)?
A: No. The size of the cover for Planners – especially for the Hard Cover version – is not the same as a Notebook. Therefore, you will need to order the product you created.
Create & Print: You can switch between binding options (Hard Cover and Spiral-bound) as long as you are still in the editing phase. Once you have ordered the project, you will need to create a copy if you want to order the same project with a different binding.
Artisan: If you haven’t updated the software yet, you will see the option to order either a Planner or Notebook when uploading your project to the FOREVER Print Shop. You should ONLY upload the project you created to the FOREVER Print Shop. If you create a Notebook and upload as a Planner (or vice versa), elements may be cut off or mis-aligned because the two products are not exactly the same.
Q4: What are the interior options for Notebooks?
A: The interior options for Notebooks are:
- Lined Pages
- Graph/Lined Pages
- Bullet Pages
- Journal Pages
Note: Journal Page interiors provide a 2-page spread per day to write thoughts, feelings, and ideas. They are perfect for creative writing, brainstorming, or note taking. Having a daily focus can help you stay on track and boos productivity.
Q5: What are the interior options for Planners?
A: All Planners have an “owner” page at the front. This is followed by the interior chosen during creation (Design & Print) or when adding to cart (Artisan).
The interior options for Planners are:
- Month/Week Pages
- Weekly Pages
- Daily Pages
Notes:
- Month/Week Pages provide 12 months’ worth of pages. Each month has a 2-page spread for monthly notes and information, followed by 5 2-page spreads for each week within that month. There are extra pages for notetaking, lists, and goals. These pages are undated, so you can start with any month you choose.
- Weekly Pages provide 52 weeks’ worth of pages consisting of 2 pages (a spread) per week. Use this interior option to track goals, as a to-do list, or to help maintain daily habits. These pages are undated, so you can start anytime.
- Daily Pages allow you to start anytime in this daily planner. Add your daily schedule, habit tracking, goals, and notes. With 168 total pages this will quickly help you manage your time and keep your life more organized.
Q6: How many pages are in a Notebook or Planner?
A: Notebooks have 120 pages. Planners have 168 pages.
Q7: Will one Planner last an entire calendar year?
A: It depends on which interior you choose. Interior pages for for Month/Year or Weekly Planners contain enough spreads to last an entire year. Interior Pages for Daily planners is around 26 weeks.
All pages are un-dated making it possible to start using your planner at any time..

Notebooks and Planners in Create & Print:
Q8: When I enter a term in the Search field, where is the system searching?
A: The system is searching for that word in the Design Names and Design Descriptions for the project you want to create.
Q9: If I enter multiple terms in the Search field, how will it determine which designs to show in the results?
A: The system will search for any of the entered words in the Design Names and Design Descriptions and will show all designs that have at least one word matching the terms you entered.
Q10: Why do some of the designs allow me to change the background to a different color or pattern but other designs to not allow this?
A: Designs with a lot of detail or those with multiple colors and shades in the background as part of the original design will not offer the option to change the color or pattern of the background.
To find designs that do offer the option to change the background color or pattern, click on the arrow next to “Filter By” then the arrow next to “Design Color” and choose the multi-colored circle. The resulting designs will all offer the option to change the background while you are personalizing your project.
Notebooks and Planners in Artisan:
Q11: I can’t see the Notebooks/Planners at the top of the screen during Project Creation in Artisan. What happened?
A: Depending on the size of your Artisan window, the size of your monitor, and your screen resolution, when you click on Cards and Stationery you may/may not see all the categories across the top. As long as “All” is the selected option at the top, you can scroll down through the list; Notebooks and Planners are available after the various Card options.
Q12: I uploaded my Notebook or Planner project from Artisan to the FOREVER Print Shop, but now the project just says, “Loading…” in Artisan. What happened to my project? Is it corrupted?
A: If you forget to save the project before clicking the “Print Project at FOREVER Print Shop” button, you will get a message asking you to save before uploading. If you click “Yes” in this message, the project will save and then upload to FOREVER correctly. However, it may take some time to display again in the editor window after the upload is complete.
To avoid this issue, try to remember to save before clicking the Print at FOREVER button. If the software does get into this state, simply close the project after the upload to FOREVER is complete. Whenever you re-open the project, it will be ready for any future editing you want to do. While we understand this is not an ideal situation, the project will not be corrupted. We are looking into correcting this issue in the future.
Q13: I created a Planner, but I don’t have a Print Guide button or Print at FOREVER Print Shop button. What happened?
A: If you did not update Artisan 6 before creating the Planner AND you selected an art kit during the “Select a template” step of creating the Planner, this may happen.
At this time, there is no way to bring back the Print Guide button for this project. However, you can still print it at FOREVER by clicking the File tab at the top of the Artisan window and choosing “Print Online with FOREVER Print Shop” from the File Menu. Remember to take a close look at the preview if you didn’t have the Bleed, Trim and Safe lines on the project during editing. (This is dependent on your Project Settings.)
If you prefer to work with the Print Guide available, create a new blank project and copy the contents from your first project into the new one.
Q14: Can I convert a Notebook to a Planner in Artisan (and vice versa)?
A: Yes. As long as you convert to a project with the same binding, you can convert your project.
Note: As with any project conversion in Artisan, make sure you review the placement of your elements in relation to the Safe line and Spine before printing. Even the Spiral-bound project should have a review of the spine since that is the area that will be punched to add the spiral binding.
Q15: The print preview in Artisan and after I upload my Notebook or Planner to FOREVER for printing show a smaller white box and logo on the back than what I saw when editing my project. Which size will print on my project?
A: The project will print as you see it in the Artisan and FOREVER previews. This change was made as part of the update of Notebooks and release of Planners.
If you created your Notebook before the update, then updated Artisan 6 before uploading the Notebook to the FOREVER Print Shop, you will see this change in the preview images in both Artisan and FOREVER.
Clients who do not update their Artisan software before uploading the project to the FOREVER Print Shop will continue to see the larger box and logo on the back of their Notebooks.
The Artisan version number with the update is 6.1.71.71 and was released on July 18, 2023.
